Water pressure restrictions lifted following completion of leak repair works in Tipperary Town

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann wish to advise residents in Tipperary town that overnight pressure reduction measures have ended following the restoration of normal water levels. The restrictions, in place since Friday 17 May, were as a result of increased flows due to leaks which caused water in the reservoir to fall to unsustainable levels.

Uisce Éireann's Colin Cunningham said: "A number of significant leaks in Tipperary town had resulted in water dropping to unsustainable levels in the reservoir. We managed to maintain regular day time supply through reducing the pressure overnight and efforts by people across Tipperary town to reduce their overall consumption.

Leak Detection and Repair crews were deployed to the area and made a number of repairs, reducing overall leakage across the area. We have been closely monitoring the situation and can confirm that water has restored to normal levels in the reservoir. We will continue work to finalise repairs in Tipperary town but ongoing leaks are likely given the aging network. Our crews strive to respond and carry out repairs as quickly as possible when such issues occur. I'd like to thank the people of Tipperary town for their patience during the restrictions and while we carried out the recent work."

Previous Updates

Overnight restrictions continue until water levels in reservoir can be fully restored.

Restrictions remain in place in Tipperary town, with pressure reduced overnight from 10pm to 6am to ensure a regular day time supply can be maintained for customers. Following investigations by Leakage Detection crews, a number of high priority areas have been identified for repair and works are set to commence from today to address and repair the leaks. This will address the increased flows across the town which is causing water in the reservoir to fall to unsustainable levels.

Uisce Éireann's Colin Cunningham said: "We understand the inconvenience that restrictions cause and we would like to thank customers for their patience. Essential leakage repair works currently underway may involve some short-term inconvenience, but traffic management in the form of traffic lights and a stop/go system will be in place to allow the works to be delivered safely and efficiently. Local and emergency traffic will be accommodated at all times.

Customers can continue to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and postponing using dishwashers and washing machines where possible during the period of the restrictions."

Overnight restrictions are being put in place in Tipperary town to ensure regular day time supply can be maintained for customers.

The water pressure will be reduced each evening from 10pm to 5am to allow local reservoir levels to recharge. The restrictions are due to increased flows as a result of leaks which is causing water in the reservoir to fall to unsustainable levels. Leak Detection and Repair crews are working in the town to identify and repair the leaks. Once the leakage is reduced, normal water pressure will be restored.

Some customers at higher elevations may experience a temporary loss of supply during the night.
