Overnight outage in Rochestown to strengthen water network

This essential water outage is required from 10pm on Thursday, 16 December until 6am on Friday, 17 December

Uisce Éireann and Cork City Council wish to advise customers in the Rochestown area, that an essential water outage is required from 10pm on Thursday, 16 December until 6am on Friday, 17 December.

The works, being carried out by Ward & Burke, are required to strengthen the water supply network in the general area as part of Uisce Éireann's Leakage Reduction Programme.

The outage will impact on approximately 2,300 properties in the Mount Oval area. It may take an additional two or three hours for supply to be fully restored to all customers. A map of the areas expected to experience the water outage is attached. These include the following:

Mount Oval Village, Garryduff, Monastery Cross, Upper Pembroke, Beechcurt, Marmullane, The Meadows, Carrigmahon, Cluain Ard, Passage West, Monkstown, Upper & Lower Kensington, Thornbury View, Thornbury Heights, Lower Belmont, Charlemont Heights, Foxwood, Norwood Court and Clarkes Hill.

Steven Blennerhassett, Uisce Éireann, said, "These works are required as we continue improving the water network in Cork city. There will be traffic management in place, but we hope this will cause minimal impact to road users and residents.

"As the water supply returns, there may be some temporary discolouration of water and occasionally issues such as internal airlocks. For helpful tips on what to do following an outage, including clearing airlocks, visit the Uisce Éireann website at www.water.ie."

"Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when a planned outage occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we complete these essential works."
