Interruptions to water supply for some customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Regional Supply Scheme

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme will experience low pressure and intermittent supply due to a large leak impacting water levels in the Jamestown reservoir. Leak Detection and Repair crews are working to identify and repair the leak as soon as possible.

Areas potentially impacted include: Poulmucka, Ballyclerihan, Red City, Barrettstown and surrounding areas.

To support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged an alternative water supply to be made available adjacent to Poulmucka village from 2.30pm this afternoon, 28 May. The alternative supply will remain in place until normal supply is returned to all customers. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.

Uisce Éireann's Operations Lead Colin Cunningham said: "We understand the inconvenience that restrictions cause and we would like to thank customers for their patience. We are working to reduce the leakage and restore normal water levels as quickly as possible."

Following repair works, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Uisce Éireann continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water service and supply issues.
