• Stephen is recognised for his thorough approach to site inspections and for proactively stepping in when he sees risks or issues with Safety.
• 1 example given is that Stephen identified issues with the on-site safety management system, particularly lack of SOLAS CSCS training cards held by the operatives for particular machinery on site. The sub-contractor had cards valid in Northern Ireland, but Stephen identified that these were not transferred to SOLAS, as specifically required by HSA and Uisce Éireann. 
• This was reported on the day to both the Contractor and UE HSQE, and Stephen ensured that works did not proceed until satisfactorily addressed. 
• The Contractor agreed that this was a good catch and resolved the issue. The Contractor held a site safety stand down and ensured operatives received all required training.
• Stephen’s vigilance and interventions has improved Health and Safety.
