- John was nominated and selected as a worthy winner of the Safety Award for the work he has done to resolve recurring issues in the HSQE inspections. He has taken a very proactive approach to driving Health & Safety standards across the Farrans Leakage Reduction Programme.
- This has had a very positive impact on improving Health and Safety across the North West LRP works.
- John implemented a number of steps to improve Health & Safety on site, such as implementing an online record management system for training records in place of paper-based records.
- John created a training matrix and rolled out additional training where there were any gaps identified.
- John organized and lead a stand-down day to highlight and discuss utility strike issues with all crews, and organised 2 soft-start days for all crews in the region after Christmas and after Easter.
- John also built his team with 2 additional staff members to have more on-site HSQE presence. Every site in the region was visited over 1 week and Tool Box talks took place with the crews.
John Ward accepted his award from the Castlebar office, presented by Alan Milton Head of Infrastructure Delivery Commercial Team. He spoke at the Awards Ceremony, and thanked the commitment of his team and all in the NW region to pushing safety improvements. He is proud of the results seen and the drive shown by Farrans to delivering projects safely.
